Who better to judge a poet than a master poet who runs a weekly open mic poetry show in Abuja and has won several Performance Poetry Competitions in Nigeria, including the prestigious Abuja Literary Society (ALS) Grand Slam ?
We present to you our judges for War Of Words 4 (Slam Poetry Competition):
Tope Sadiq aka Torpdeo Mascaw is an IT consultant during the day and a poet by night,having worked for a mobile telecommunications company for a number of years, he decided to follow his passion and the Freedom group was born. The Freedom Group consists of:
Freedom Studios: a kitchen where great alternative Music, Film and Poetry are produced.
Freedom Hall: a platform where talent is discovered ,nurtured and exposed on a national stage. The event currently runs in Lagos and Abuja on a weekly basis.
Freedom Records: a music and film distribution channel via online and mobile.
Bob Ekat is the author of “Tears from an Old Man’s Eyes”, and the winner of the Sentinel Centre Performance Poetry Prize. He is a co-initiator of the Pen Society, a literary organization which searches and refines new voices.
In 2012, Bob’s book was one of the ten titles chosen by the Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA) for the Yusuf Alli Literary Campaign.
Bob has performed at notable poetry platforms, some of which are Word Slam, Word-up, Poetry Potter, Soul Storm, the US Consulate’s Read out loud, and even the Black Heritage Festival. He was contracted to write and perform a poem for Coca Cola at its 125th global anniversary.
He is currently the poetry facilitator for the Teenage Festival of Life (TFL).
Bob is a poet who writes as the muse leads, exploring themes of love, adventure, revolution and even the metaphysical. He simply is a poet.
Dike-Ogu Chukwumerije is a writer, an author, a poet, and a performance poet. He has a Law degree from the University of Abuja and a masters degree from the University of London.
He is the author of several books – including the celebrated poetry collection, ‘The Revolution Has No Tribe: A Collection of Poems on African History, Culture and Society’. An award winning Performance Poet, he has won several Performance Poetry Competitions in Nigeria, including the prestigious Abuja Literary Society (ALS) Grand Slam.
His novel, ‘Urichindere’ won the 2013 Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA) Prize for Prose Fiction. He maintains two blogs, dikechukwumerije.blogspot.com and touchmeintheheart.blogspot.com

The top 3 poets also get to perform at the next Word Up Volume 9 (#WordUpVol9) in February 2015.
