Free writing – How to write better poetry

One of the easiest ways to generate ideas for your poetry is to write uninhibited and continuously. Not everything you write will be useful or good, but you can produce plenty of salvageable material and editing fodder. Free writing alone won’t make you a better poet, but the practice of writing often and and editing often will.

Some writers do publish their ‘stream of consciousness’ writing, but until your own writing has been sharpened to the point that every word on the page becomes a gem by virtue of the fact you wrote it, put your faith in editing!
