THE CHEAT

They trust you so much

For they think you’re quite real

They’re bound to have a shock

If they realize how you feel

They see you as a deity

To be served in every way

This is why they think it’s treachery

To probe you any day

This feeling will fade at last

When they’ve known what you hold

I’m sure they’ll give you a cast

Leaving a once snug man in the cold

I pray that you do something soon

For the last thing that’ll wait is time

A hero loses, once he turns a fool

And losing a name is worse than facing guillotine

HORIZON

We’ve just begun,

I think it’ll be fun.

I look into what I call ‘those eyes’

And they stare back in surprise.

We didn’t know it will get this far

For we are usually on guard.

We’re used to stopping within the range

But this time there’s a change

We’re going a long way,

Yet, none of us has any say.

Mother Nature is taking her toll

And we’re slaves to a spell.

The pace is getting better

And we’re soaring higher

We’ll soon arrive,

This is apparent in our strive.

There’s a pulsating current

Which enhances the torrent.

Lo! here comes the toss,

Defeating and making me feel at loss

I try to stare across the realm

And I realize I’m not the only victim,

For the look in those eyes tells the story; abstract, blank and glassy
